Bus Transportation: To Professional Development Institutes is available from the Temple University campus.
Buses depart promptly at 8:00 AM from 12th St. and Montgomery.
Parking: Free parking is available in both the student lot (Luzerne St entrance) and teacher lot (Hunting Park Avenue entrance).
Information on the topics covered at Fall 2008 PD institute
The Student Teacher Pipeline to the Future initiative
provides pre-service and ongoing professional development to support and enhance the professional
growth of student teachers. Each summer, fall and spring, Professional Development (PD) Institutes are offered and
open to all student teachers who are placed in a school in the District of Philadelphia. In addition, student
teachers will receive a $100 stipend for each session they attend.
Summer Institute - Held in late August
- Overview of the School District's Core Curriculum in math and literacy
- Classroom Management
- Reflective Practice
Fall and Spring Institute - Three 4-hour Saturday sessions
- In-depth SDP Core Curriculum in math and literacy for K-8 student teachers.
- In-depth math, literacy, African American History, World Language, Science Core Curricula, for 9-12 student teachers
- Classroom Management
- Differentiated Instruction

Dates for Fall 2008:
All sessions start at 9:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM. Breakfast is provided beginning at 8:00 AM.
