AmericaSpeaks Draws Over 4,000 Around Discussion of Federal Budget

On June 26, 2010, the Philadelphia Education Fund joined thousands of Americans across the country for AmericaSpeaks: Our Budget, Our Economy National Town Meeting, a national discussion on finding solutions for the budget and deficit.

The event was based in Philadelphia and used satellite video, webcast, and interactive technologies to link over 4,000 people from 19 cities in a discussion about the federal budget. The event was a bipartisan effort that gave honest numbers about the projected deficits and debt through the year 2025. More importantly, participants had the chance to speak (and listen) to each other about a wide array of potential options that included both spending cuts and revenue increases.
