Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation
Authority
You might be surprised to learn that SEPTA is a
multi-modal public transportation operation with bus, subway, light
rail, regional rail, high speed rail, and trackless trolley service
covering 2200 square miles of service area over five counties, plus
selected destinations in New Jersey and Delaware.
The Authority is the fifth largest transit operation in the
nation and the largest in the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania.
With an organization as complex as this, the professionals
who work here are more than just vehicle operators, mechanics, and
cashiers. An employer like
SEPTA offers a wide range of career opportunities for a diverse
set of disciplines and interests.
In terms of a pathway to professional enhancement, SEPTA
offers as much opportunity as any of the
Fortune 500 businesses in the Delaware
Valley.
Inspiring young talent to think about pursuing
a profession in public transportation is part of the Authority’s
career development program. In
addition to the approximately 9,000 full-time employees, SEPTA regularly
places college and high school student interns in a variety of job
functions within the organization.
These internship opportunities offer work assignments that
accommodate a student’s educational and experience goals while
providing meaningful service to SEPTA.
2.
St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children
St.
Christopher’s Hospital for Children has the research and technical
capabilities to attract top doctors and patients from all over the
world. The Hospital is a
leader in medical innovation, like living donor organ transplantation,
and in research such as that conducted by the Pulmonary Department
in partnership with the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
And, St. Christopher’s also trains the physicians who
will be caring for the next generation of children.
The Hospital is a full-service, pediatric specialty center
with special expertise in children’s hearts, kidneys and liver,
muscles and bones, nervous system, lungs, general pediatric surgery,
heart surgery, trauma care, and liver and kidney transplantation
just to name a few. The
Hospital’s professionals include physicians, nurses, dieticians,
therapists, social workers, technicians, building engineers, finance
and accounting experts, communications and marketing specialists
and many others, each of whom plays an important role
on St. Christopher’s team.
But for all the passion St. Christopher’s puts into
caring for children – from the tiniest infant to teens –
it’s caring about them and their families that makes
the difference. That is the 125-year heritage of St. Christopher’s
Hospital and it is the reason pediatricians once again voted St.
Christopher’s one of America’s best in U.S. News and
World Report.
