Allie Mulvihill is Senior Program Director at the Philadelphia Education Fund. Ms. Mulvihill has been a leader in the Ed Fund’s teaching and learning strand of work since 1999, including the Reduced Class Size/Balanced Literacy Program which brought over 1000 teachers into the School District of Philadelphia, several middle grades alternative routes to teaching initiatives, and the Student Teacher Pipeline to the Future Program. Most recently, she is co-leading a local and national dropout prevention effort, Diplomas Now, with Johns Hopkins University, City Year of Greater Philadelphia and Communities in Schools of Philadelphia. She is senior staff to the Philadelphia Teacher Residency and an active member in the Ed Fund’s Philadelphia Math + Science Coalition. She sits on the steering committee of Project U-Turn, a citywide effort dedicated to dropout prevention and re-engagement of Philadelphia youth. All of her work has been in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia.
Prior to coming to the Ed Fund, Ms. Mulvihill was Senior Assistant to the Associate Superintendent of Schools in the School District of Philadelphia, overseeing the equity agenda across twenty-two Clusters, administrating the Title I/Schoolwide Project and the Comprehensive Student Assistance Process. She taught Social Studies and English in K-8, middle and high school settings. She served as Administrator of the Tilden Middle School Alternative School. Ms. Mulvihill was a founding member of the Philadelphia Writing Project, a Supervisor for the District's Priority One Desegregation Plan, and directed the District’s Communications Network Writing Program.
Her career in public education is based on the belief that, given the appropriate supports, all youth can graduate fully prepared for college and career.
Ms. Mulvihill holds a B.A. in History from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York; an M.A. from Villanova University in secondary school counseling; and Pennsylvania principal certificates, K–12.
